Cincinnati
The focal of this necklace is actually an embossed heart bridle buckle. It is from the Civil War era thus why I named this piece Cincinnati. Cincinnati was the mount of Union General Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War. The remarkable 17-hand thoroughbred became famous when Gen. Grant rode him to Appomattox Court House to negotiate the Confederate Army’s surrender at the end of the war in 1865.
Various vintage buttons make up the chain and a tiny washer hangs below. This piece measures 18" with a 2" extender and closes with a lobster claw clasp. The pendant adds another 3".
